In the picture above, you'll find a few "basics,"
just to give us a starting place. Please make note of the Scene
Manager (lower left), the Modify Panel (along the right side) and
the Primary Scene controls (along the top of the scene). These are
the important things you will need to know about iClone 4 and our
movie files. If you are an experienced user, you can probably skip
way ahead.

This scene has already been set up, but we
are going to swap out the Panther Tank (away diagonal, in gold)
for a Panzer Tank.

With the "Away Diag" Plane selected, double-click the
DIFFUSE channel (right strip), navigate to the video file and be
sure to open the DIFFUSE channel - not the OPACITY channel.
Now, do the same for the OPACITY channel - make sure you select
the corresponding OPACITY channel - not the DIFFUSE channel.
Now, the "swap out" is complete. Let's take a look at
adding motion next.
The Transform tools in the Modify panel are used to make minor
adjustments, mostly "up" and "down" for shadow
control. We recommend using the Scene Manager tools for
"major" moves - left/right, in/out. Of course you can
also scale from here to make the video size fit your scene better.
But, what if you want your video "parked?" No
problem, iClone 4 allows very extensive control over your videos.
Just scroll down the Scene Manager and expand the
"Video" section. Select a file and make adjustments in
the new Modify window that opens up after a video is selected. One
word of caution, be sure to make identical changes to both the
DIFFUSE video and the OPACITY video. To do otherwise is to invite
unexpected results. - But - maybe that's what you want. It's your
scene and your story. Ain't that great?!
One last word about
"parking" your video folder:
Once you get your video download
unzipped, "plant it." Don't let it move after you have
loaded it into iClone 4. iClone 4 is very picky about its video
files and uses absolute paths to locate them. So, if you do create
a scene one day and then later move the video files, you will have
to find them for iClone 4 when opening the old scene. Not really a
bother. Just DO NOT! try to do anything with the iClone 4 scene
(save it, change it, etc.) until AFTER! you have re-located the
files. iClone 4 has a tendency to crash if you you try to push it
in this situation.
