Critter Overlays and Effects for "Non-iClone 4" Users

Whatever can be done in iClone 4 with our motion files can also be done, quite easily, in Adobe Premiere 6.5 (or similar editors) - using our .mov files!

Software Requirements: Your linear video editor must support QuickTime .mov format with Alpha Channel/Chroma-Key (Ex: Adobe Premiere)

Watch a video tutorial (How to Chroma-key with Magix Video Editing - or any comparable program)

Go to a "How To" for using Adobe Premiere 6.5

Here's the pipeline we use with Anime Studio Pro to produce movie demos like these (without iClone 4):

SUMMARY

The Critter Overlays and Effects are looping video files. You can create a walk, run, fly, effect, etc. motion of any length:

1) Import an mov file (with alpha transparency) into Anime Studio. (Can also import transparent png files)

2) Set project settings for finished video size and duration - looping is automatic. Have a motion that you don't want to loop? No problem. Just set the duration of the Anime Studio project to the point where you want to "stop" the motion. Use File > Project Settings and change the End Frame setting to the new length.

3) Resize, move, rotate or skew the video/image at the start of the timeline. (Optional)

4) Resize, move, rotate or skew the video/image at the end of the timeline. (Optional)

5) Add other optional features: audio, camera pan/rotate/tilt, Anime Studio effects, etc. You can even add perspective shadows to your critters from Scripts > Layer Effects or add Particle Effects such as Energy Clouds, Explosions, Rain, Smoke, Snow or Sparkles!

6) Export as avi or mov to add to your project file.

Here are our "Secret Weapons"

Anime Studio was originally created to do "Anime" style video, moving cartoon-like character parts around to create motion. But, we have found that it provides a very quick and easy solution for animating ANY avi or mov video (even very "serious" ones) - re-ordering layers, resizing, moving, flipping, rotating, shearing, etc. etc. The program doesn't know if you're producing a "cartoon" or the next dramatic award winner! It also handles transparent png files - to add those "finishing touches" to a scene. For the finishing touches, you might want to take a look at our Scene Fillers.

Anime Studio Pro
Who doesn't know Poser for 3D animation?! Smith Micro is soon to come out with Poser 8. So, you should see the price dropping on Poser 7 soon. We recommend doing an internet search to see what you can find. We're not sure about the specs for Anime Studio Debut 6. But, we do know that the "Standard" version of Anime Studio 5 was much more limited than the "Pro" version of Anime Studio 5. Could not output HDV sizes and had a limited video length. So we would recommend downloading a trial version of each before making a purchase. Unlimited Professional Output - Output to formats including NTSC/PAL D1/DV Standard and Widescreen; HDV and HDTV 780p and 1080p; AVI, MOV, Flash and more.

Very FAST renders!

Actually, we used Anime Studio Pro 5 for the demos on this site. But Smith Micro has a new version of Anime Studio (6) available (displayed above) which has added even more tools such as multiple soundtracks and audio panning.

Example: Using Anime Studio 5

Import a looping video - no need to create a sequence longer than the original file. Anime Studio loops the video automatically allowing you to set your own video length in the Project Settings.

Set the duration of the video. File > Project Settings

(Again, looping is automatic)

At the start of the timeline - Resize the video smaller and move offscreen

Moving to the end of the timeline - Resize the video larger and move offscreen

The full animation path is demonstrated below

Export as avi or mov. We recommend mov. It simply outperforms avi files.

The Finished Result

Multi-characters are a snap!

The finished result - With cacti and bramble png files. We even added a Kane tumble from our iClone motion files!
